Commissions

A large part of the work I do is done on commission. My clients have been individuals as well as condominium associations, law firms, restaurants, building developers, interior designers, architects, corporate and hospitality clients, I have commission clients across North America. What I love about commissioned artwork is the collaboration. Each painting has its own evolution and its own trajectory based upon my client’s unique specifications. My clients have loved the results. Many clients have said the outcome far exceeded their expectations.

  • Four Sisters Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant in Arlington, Virginia, commissioned an image piece. Of three sketched options highlighting the Vietnamese landscape, the owners and interior designer selected the lotus leaf. The painting consists of four 2’-6” x 8’-0” acrylic canvases.

  • COPT, a Columbia, Maryland developer initially commissioned two paintings on canvas for this office building lobby. When one painting moved to a floor lobby, I was commissioned to provide two works on paper to replace the relocated canvas.

  • A large number of completed commissions have been for private residences as well as condominiums , apartment buildings, and hotels. I work with individuals, couples, families, or boards to establish their goals and design criteria for the piece(s).

How does it work?

It all starts with our conversation. We’ll discuss your goals and aspirations, aesthetic preferences, palette, likes and dislikes. We’ll consider the painting’s eventual location and its optimum size. I’ll ask you to pick works of mine that you respond to, and why. After we’ve executed a commission agreement and a deposit is received, I’ll do preliminary sketches on the painting’s placement and/or composition along with palette samples, as necessary. You’ll have an opportunity to review the work in progress and close to completion. If all meets with your approval, final payment is due upon delivery.
